With slow deep breaths
I still love you in my silent heart.
With closed eyes and inward sighs
I go to a deep blue place.
That feels like moonlight on night water.
Where dreams that stay awhile can float
like a soft summer night's wind,
scenting the air with wisteria and sweet olive,
with the fragrance of night blooming jasmine.
Love like a night breeze,
making thin silver waves on still water.
Reminding me of the shiver bumps
from your breath when you stood so close.
Love like moonlight on night water.
The blue light of a new moon
turning into more than color ... more than light.
Moonbeam illumination is now my love for you,
this feeling of sad expectation.
For a wish to stay a wish only
as the daylight reality could never be.
A wish that's vapor in warm bright air.
So, I will love you in my secret heart,
like moonlight on night water.
Like a dream that pales in daytime glare.
I still love you in my quiet heart,
Like moonlight on night water.
Like moonlight on night water.
